Ilene Frances PEDLAR
On March 23, 2024, Mrs. Ilene Pedlar with her family by her side passed away at the age of 85 years.
Ilene is lovingly remembered by her two children: Karen (Roger) Holub and their children Jennifer and Jeffrey, all of Edmonton and Greg (Darlene) Pedlar and their children Natalie and Stephanie, all of Toronto, Ontario. Ilene is also survived by her sister Barb McKendry of Holland Landing, Ontario.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles, two brothers Donald Leigh and Russell Leigh.
As per Ilene’s request, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dearly loved Mother and Grandmother, Ilene (Fran).
A loving mother and wife she raised two amazing kids! The Grandkids called her Granny and spent many fun-filled hours with her playing games, crafting and chatting.
Mom had been a widow for the last 19 years and was very independent. She always did things her way and prided herself on her honest opinions, sometimes appreciated, and sometimes….
She remained adept in our techno world gaming on her Wii, playing bridge online with her Ontario friends, and ordering groceries and Amazon goods with the best of them.
Mom enjoyed cooking and baking regularly making her classics and finding new recipes online. Sweet and savory were her go-to’s.
Artistic quilting was her passion. She has made many beautiful pieces using various media. Some are wall hangings, others more practical like placemats, table runners, etc. She took part in several quilting conferences here and in the USA including one on a cruise to Hawaii. Her creations have won awards even though she had to be cajoled into entering them.
Mom loved to sing and took part in several choirs as well as learning to play favourite songs on her electric piano.
For her downtime, Mom was a voracious reader. Her tastes were varied: Isaac Asimov, James Herriot, Agatha Christie, Stephen King and John Grisham. Mom loved to curl up with a snack, glass of red wine, and a good book in the wee hours of the morning.
We shared 85 amazing years with her and are missing her terribly.
We have so many memories with which to reminisce and know that she is in a wonderful place and will be there for us when it is our time.

So sorry for your loss. Your Mom was special, she always took time to chat with me in the budgie filled kitchen, made us delicious albeit unusual sandwiches for us while we played pool or watched the Jays. And she liked to laugh. A lot.
