Mike’s memory will live on within his daughter Jennifer and grandson Micah Dusseault, siblings Linda (Gerald) Powell, Susan Legacy, and Roger (Jo-Anne) Peterson. Pre-deceased by parents Helen and Elmer, stepmothers Isabel and Flora, Gran and wife Joyce.
As a child, Mike participated in many groups and activities associated with Metropolitan United Church. He attended Margaret Jenkins Elementary, Central Jr. High, and Victoria High School. Mike entered the workforce doing framing and drywall in Victoria, BC, eventually working and starting a company alongside his brother, Roger. He then moved to California to carry on his trades work. Five years later, he relocated to Edmonton, AB where he worked in construction before becoming a project manager and estimator employed by Cunningham, then Matrix drywall. He was self-employed from 2019 until his death. His work was something he was proud of.
Mike will be remembered for so many things including his dry sense of humor and quick wit, oftentimes playing devil’s advocate with a sly grin and twinkling eyes just to keep the conversation interesting. His addiction to CNN news, political issues, and his many weather complaints are also vivid memories that will undoubtedly endure. But most of all, it is his endless love for, and appreciation of his cats and other family members that will be greatly missed. His final wish to return to Victoria will be honored by his family who will spread his ashes at a later date, privately.
