Trevor Laurie PUITTINEN

Trevor L Puittinen (Smash) passed away on 17 Jan 2025 at the UofA hospital after a hard-fought battle, he had his daughter and partner by his side, Trevor was 46 years old. Trevor had a resonating personality and a huge heart, he was known and loved by many. Trevor was always ready and willing to help out others and would often be the first to go help a friend in need.
Trevor was born on 18 Oct 1978 in Thunder Bay Ontario, to Laurie (Larry) Puittinen and Hena Schlund. His family later moved to British Columbia where he spent his childhood and youth both in the lower mainland and then Kamloops. Trevor moved to Edmonton when he became an adult and that is where he lived until his passing. Trevor worked for many years as a long-haul truck driver and then later on the oil patch doing a variety of different jobs, when he found his niche with Hydrovac.
When Trevor’s daughter Makayla was born, he found a new sense of purpose. He tried to spend as much time with his daughter as he could. Makayla was definitely a Daddy’s girl and he even had her name tattooed on his forearm. They also got matching tattoos of maple leaf’s when she was 17 that signified hope.
Trevor grew up around family that took an interest in classic cars and motorcycles, which ended up turning into a life-long passion for Trevor. Trevor had a treasured 1960 Oldsmobile 88 Dynamic that he called Grover, he loved going cruising with friends on warm summer nights. He was always networking and searching the classifieds for his next car project. He also owned a blue trans am and an unfinished Nova. His livery also included a Harley Davidson Dyna Lowrider and a Road King which he won. If he wasn’t out cruising in one of his classic cars, he could be found on one of his bikes during riding season. He was well known in the motorcycle community, having participated in many events over the years.
Trevor gained a passion for travel and in the last few years went on many adventures exploring new destinations, Mexico was a firm favourite as he loved the beach and warm weather. There were many destinations that he wished to visit but didn’t get the chance. He loved travelling back to Kamloops whenever he had the chance to visit his beloved grandmother, he always said that she was his sanctuary.
Trevor is predeceased by his mother Hena Schlund. Trevor leaves behind his partner Heidi Schley, her daughter Indie and his cherished daughter Makayla Puittinen. He is also survived by his father Larry Puittinen (Estelle), brother Tom Hedch, brother Robert Puittinen (Sherry), brother David Puittinen (Katie), sister Melanie Hedch, nieces Skylar, Rayna and Ellie, his grandmother Giesla, his aunts Jackie and Rose Marie as well as many other extended family.
Trevor will have a celebration of life during riding season, as per his wishes, with motorcycles and classic cars. Details will be posted closer to spring when arrangements are made, hopefully this will give those that do not live close the opportunity to come and celebrate the man he was.

As teenagers, Trevor and I grew up together in Kamloops in a community called KnutsFord. We didn’t get to spend much time together as adults, but we’ve stayed in contact through text and messages and phone calls, The past few years, Trevor and I have been trying to meet up, but you know how life goes and schedules are. Trevor was a happy guy. He was always full of confidence. I’m sorry we never got the time to meet up bud as adults. I will always remember you, Trevor and some of the things we’ve done as kids growing up . You can now ride free with your angels and look down on us. Rest in peace my bad.

Trevor you will sorely missed, you always had a way of making everyone feel good about themsleves and always had so much love to give. Full of laughter and fun, growing up in Kamloops was always an adventure. Ride on in the sunlight with your biking buddies.
Trevor was a kind heart that put others before himself. He was there for me and we shared so many heartfelt conversations. He had a forgiving and caring spirit. He always spoke of his daughter, his love for her, and his hopes for her future. He was a talented artist as well. He designed background graphics for some of my writing. And every time, it felt like he understood my words and made them more beautiful with his imagery. He would say at times that he had bad luck. But maybe it’s only because he gave so much of himself to others. We are the lucky ones to have known him. Ride forever my friend.
Condolence to family.
Will miss the talks and hanging out my friend.
Until we meet again brother 🙏
Trevor was a good friend and I will miss hanging out with him and talking to him. We meet up at Timmy’s and we would go to the car show or cruise around town. It would be me and Trevor and Al and his wife. You will be missed my friend.
My condolences to his entire family. May he now ride in paradise 🕊️
You being gone kills me. I think of you daily. Love and miss you. Reshelle, McCullough, and Corbin.
