Kayla Sula Raschke (nee Buchanan)

March 25, 1988–August 14, 2026

Born in Edmonton, Alberta at St. Joseph’s Hospital to Gary Buchanan and Tina Guthrie. The third child of four. She was the beloved wife to Micah and mother to Oliver (9) and Daisy (3).

Kayla was predeceased by her daughter Leilah, her sister Mellissa Serna (Buchanan), her uncle David Guthrie, both sets of grandparents including her maternal grandmother, Rita, the only grandparent she knew.

She grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, moved to Batha, Alberta, then Stettler, Alberta, then Donalda, Alberta and Ranfurly, Alberta. When she moved out on her own, she moved back to Edmonton, Alberta, then Vegreville, Alberta and finally back to Edmonton, Alberta where she settled for the rest of her short life.

Kayla was an introvert gifted in management skills, organization, computer skills and planning details. In 2015 she found her dream job working for an organic online grocer. She worked her way up from the warehouse all the way into managing, which highlighted her gifts well.

In 2015, she met the love of her life, Micah Raschke, soon after their relationship took off.

In 2016, they welcomed their first child, Oliver Maxamillian Raschke. In 2019, they tragically lost their first daughter, Leilah Raschke. In 2021, Kayla and Micah were married in a friend’s back yard, a very small and intimate ceremony.

In 2023, they welcomed their third child, another daughter, Daisy Ryan Raschke.

Kayla was a kind, thoughtful, strong and artistic person who cared deeply about her family, immediate and extended, her faith, friends far and near and health/wellness. She was very intentional as she related to and encouraged so many people.

My heart is broken for you and your family. To lose someone so young, who was such a wonderful parent and such a beautiful person, is a loss that words can hardly express.

May you find comfort in knowing how deeply she was loved and how much goodness she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her. Most of all, may it bring you peace knowing that she found Jesus and is now resting safely in His loving arms.

Praying that God surrounds you and your family with strength, comfort, and love during this heartbreaking time. Hold tight to the beautiful memories, the love she gave, and the precious legacy she leaves behind. ❤️🙏

My deepest condolences to all for such a profound loss.

I will always think of Kayla as one who walks in the light.

She was known to me as a deeply intuitive and spiritual person, and our connect was built on this.

Kayla you made an impact on all who knew you and may the love and friendship you shared be with all of us forever.

You are and will always be a beautiful soul that was my pleasure to know.
