Zayd Gregory Rawson passed away peacefully Saturday, September 5th, 2026. With family around his bedside, after being involved in a motor vehicle accident, he has now joined their beloved dog Kitty, where they are both watching over Ivy and the rest of us.
Zayd was born on February,13th 2006 to Breanne Rawson and Danny Schuster. He leaves in his wake so many people. First and foremost, the love of his life his daughter Ivy, his mom Breanne, his little brother Zeo. His dad Danny. His grandparents Dawn, Todd, Dwayne, Marvin and Ila. His great grandmas Margaret, Doris, Dee and Gertrude, aunties & uncles (cousins) Rachelle & Shon (Halle/Emery) Cole & Silken (Mackenzie/Wells) Derek (Logan/Tristin/Jayden) Blair & Shaun (Kayson/Kezley) Nikki & Evan (Carson/Keelan) and lastly his uncle Mark. As well as numerous great aunties, uncles and extended family, Marla, Gary, Serenity and Karl and so many friends. Zayd was predeceased by his beloved dog, Kitty, his Great Grandma Mildred, Great Grandpas: George, Tom, Ron, Les, Edwin and Arlo.
Zayd had transitioned from a teenager to quite an incredible man. He stepped up proudly to being a full time single dad, which gave Zayd the opportunity to have such a special bond with his daughter Ivy. They both lit up with pure love and joy when they heard each other or seen each other.
Zayd’s life may have been short but he accomplished so much. When he became a father to Ivy, he stepped up to provide a good life for the two of them. By entering the oil field with G&C Steamers, he worked his way up to become truck driver, which he always told us that he wanted to be. He truly enjoyed his job. But the one job that he loved more than any other, was being a bouncer at the Old Hole where he joined his bar staff family. Which one would think, with his stature. But he could diffuse any situation and talk guys 2,3 even 4 times his size.
Zayd had the biggest heart. He always wanted to help others even when it wasn’t in his best interest, he still tried. He had a strong passion to sing and dance. Whether he was in the shower, outside hanging with friends, walking around the bar while he worked and doing karaoke with his mom. Zayd loved to play on his PlayStation 5, at times made him stay up way to late on work nights.
The family of Zayd would like to express their gratitude to the man, that stayed with Zayd until help came, it brings comfort to know he was not alone. As well Constable Bailey, the first responders, the Stars trauma crew, and his trauma team in the ICU 3C3 at the U Of A. The RN’s who really had to work hard to keep Zayd safe and comfortable, and still be so kind and supportive to his family and those who were able to come visit. Thank you to those who helped care for Zeo. Zayd’s work family at G&C thank you for all the support. All the messages, texts, stories and videos especially on the Facebook group. Please continue to add pics videos and stories so Ivy will know who her dad was. They can also be sent privately to his mother who was able to find comfort with them. And finally we are grateful and thankful, to all who spent time with Bre and family sharing their stories and support which profoundly helped us through this difficult journey. We now realize that Zayd had impacted so many lives, which makes us proud and brings us peace. We all lost someone special, so please don’t be strangers we are here to support you through this as well.
Celebration of Life for Zayd will be held at The Mackenzie Centre, Drayton Valley, September 19th 2026 at 2 pm.
