David William ROWBOTTOM
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Rowbottom on February 18, 2025, at the age of 56 from a heart attack.
Dave is loved and remembered by his parents, Al and Sheila Rowbottom, his brother Wayne Rowbottom, his sister Brenda (Glen) Hansen along with their children, Jessica, Jordan, Brett and Lauren Hansen. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends that loved him very much.
Dave was born July 21, 1968, in Merritt, BC and shortly after moved to Princeton, BC. It was here that Dave fell in love with the game of hockey and enjoyed many weekends at the arena and travelling to nearby communities for games.
When he was a teen the family moved to Edson, AB and then after 5 years, to Hinton, AB. Dave worked at Weldwood for over 10 years and while living on his own got his dog, Tanner. He also spent many days golfing at the Hinton golf course.
Dave then moved to Fort MacMurray, AB where he worked for 20 years, proudly becoming a Red Seal Millwright. While in Fort MacMurray Dave made many friends that became his family while still being loyal to his lifelong friends from the past.
Dave liked mornings at the pool, riding his Harley-Davidson Pan-American motorcycle, mountain biking, fishing in his kayak and taking in concerts and movies. Often, he would visit family in Hinton while driving his big single cab GMC Tonka Truck.
Dave purchased an E bike last summer and was looking forward to more rides, recently bought himself an Easter egg blue Chevy Trax for Christmas and was beginning to take an interest in travel.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 5 at 1pm upstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion, 250 Pembina Ave, Hinton, AB. Please join us in sharing stories and memories of Dave.
Also, feel free to wear something bright and colourful or show up in hockey merch.
Dave believed every kid should have a pair of skates and a hockey stick. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations can please be made to the Jumpstart Program to give the gift of play and help kids get into the game.

I’m so sad that you are gone my friend. It was just 48 hours previously we were joking and planning on getting together. You were my friend from the culd de sac growing up, and my arcade pinball partner in crime. Gone too soon. You will be dearly missed.
Kevin, thank you for leaving a note and sharing a bit about your memories of Dave. 💙
David and I met in elementary school on our first day of grade 1 and grew up together in Princeton as best friends until the Rowbottom family moved to Edson. We had countless sleepover, stay overs, hang out and little kid adventures. He used to make laugh so hard my belly hurt and I couldn’t breath. He will always be the funniest human being I will ever meet. We grew apart as we got older. Kept in touch mostly though Facebook but did get to reconnect in person a couple years ago. He still made me laugh like I was 8 years old. He will be missed dearly.
My condolences to the Rowbottom family. I literally grew up in your house and you were my second family. So many fond memories.

Dave was a proud member of the Tutts Putts Hockey Club and if you were to look closely you would find his teeth marks on the “B” Division Trophy of the old Commercial Hockey League. Condolences to his family.
