Heinrich RUPPERT
Heinrich Ruppert
1944 – 2025
Heinrich (aka Hank or Henry) Ruppert passed away at the age of 80 on February 4, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on July 28,1944 in Salzgitter, Germany, Hank lived a full life.
In 1963, he immigrated to Canada. He began his work life as a laborer in brick lying and mining until he found his true passion in design and drafting after moving to Edmonton. He called himself a “pencil pusher” for years, but with changes in technology he discovered his new passion of computers and CAD (design) software. He self-taught himself much of what he learned but he also took numerous Autocad courses and attended an annual conference. He retired in 2004.
In his free time Hank thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He camped annually with family and friends. He filled his time tinkering with projects in the home. Winters were spent building his model railroad and he loved the Edmonton Oilers especially fellow German, Leon Draisaitl. He was also a fan of Michael Schumacher & liked to attend the Indy races when he could.
Hank is survived by his loving wife, Erika, his son Brian (Vanessa), his daughter, Jackie (Doug) and four grandchildren (Megan, Hayden, Zack & Noah).
A celebration of Hank’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Laurier Heights Community Hall 14405 – 85 Avenue. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring his legacy and sharing memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Health – Palliative Care.
Rest in peace. You will be forever in our hearts.
