On August 29, 2026, Mr. Douglas Sallie Jnr. of Edmonton passed away at the age of 69 years.
Doug is lovingly remembered by his sister Tricia (Carman) McKnight of Calgary and brother Glen (Candace) of Edmonton and nephews Reid McKnight, niece Jessica (Matthew) Lakis, and nephews Branden Sallie and Shaun (Alex) Sallie.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Doug at the Kingsway Legion, 14339 -50 Street, Edmonton on Thursday October 1st, 1 – 4 pm.

Doug was born to Douglas & Mary Sallie, April 24, 1957 in Glasgow, Scotland.
On his second birthday he arrived in Canada and resided in Edmonton for the rest of his life with family and friends.
Doug started his career in Provincial Corrections in 1980 and retired after 46 years. His many postings included the old and new Fort Saskatchewan, Camp Tees, Medicine Lodge, Alsike, Judy Creek, Fort MacMurray and the old and new Remand Centres.
He travelled extensively throughout his life to destinations including Mexico, Spain, Australia, Scotland, England, Greek Islands, Hong Kong China, Thailand, South Africa, The Netherlands, and many holidays were taken in the US and Canada.
Doug was a longtime fan of the Edmonton Eskies, Los Angeles Chargers and Glasgow Rangers. He would often attend live games when he was able to and he rarely missed a NHRA or Formula 1 race. He was a movie theatre buff and enjoyed the old ones on Turner Classics.
Nothing made Doug happier than sharing good food, good champagne and enjoying his rich social life with all that knew him.
Friends and family whose lives he touched remember Doug as kind, compassionate and generous with the best sense of humor and a joy for life.
Many thanks go to the staff at 4 Spruce Norwood Hospice, Unit 5C at U of A Hospital and Oncology physicians, technologists and nursing staff at the Cross Cancer Institute.
He is forever in our hearts and dearly missed.

Mr Sallie. You made my time at work and the busy evenings so memorable. It was a pleasure to know you. You always had time for a laugh and you were held in such high respect by your coworkers. You will be missed and remembered by many ! My condolences to all your friends and family.
I was surprised and saddened to hear of Doug’s passing. He was a friend from way back when we were all young and looking forward.
Even then, he was extremely kind and just so very nice. I will never forget that beautiful head of bright red hair that flowed down his shoulders and that great smiling face. I will never forget you Doug.

It is with surprise and sadness of the news of Doug’s passing. It does leave me a bit unbalanced when a part of one’s past life leaves. I fondly remember those special timeless moments when I was around Doug even though it was many years ago. Meeting him in High School, was a wonderful and fortunate circumstance. He was funny, witty, and sarcastic(in a good way). A warm, kind soul , with a a marvelous contagious laugh. I saw him by chance through the years and was aware of the work he did. Always uplifting when I saw him, as he still maintained that great inviting and unique presence. He will be sorely missed by so many. All my best to his family, and friends. A person who will never be forgotten.
