David William SASHUK

With full hearts, we announce the passing of David Sashuk who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 19th after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was a man who lived his life with purpose, laughter, and integrity. He was a fisherman at dawn, a hunter in the fall, a guitar player by the fire, and the steady, loving anchor of his family every day of the year.

He found peace on the water, where the stillness of early mornings and the tug of the line brought him joy.  Whether it was casting from his favorite spot or teaching his grandchildren how to bait a hook, fishing wasn’t just a pastime it was a way he shared patience, wonder, and quiet wisdom.

Hunting season was another chapter he cherished, not only for the thrill of the chase but for tradition. He embraced the crisp air, the stories passed around, and the connection to the people he was with. Those who walked or rode the trails with him felt not just guided, but grounded.

Music filled the spaces between. The sound of soft guitar chords drifting through family gatherings, campfires, or quiet evenings at home. His playing wasn’t about performance; it was about presence. Each note carried warmth, memory, and a sense of belonging.

Above all, family was the heart of his world. He was a devoted partner, a proud father, and a Gido whose lap and love were endless. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he in theirs. He always had time for “just one more story.” or to show them something “just one more time.”

He lived to help others, offering his hands, his tools, his time, and his heart to anyone who needed them. Whether it was fixing something or simply showing up, he gave generously without expecting anything in return.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and simple joys. A man who lived close to nature, close to music, and closest of all to the people he loved. He will be remembered always, missed deeply, and loved forever.

A heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors for their support at the Barrhead Health Care Centre
