Carolyn Wendy SEDLOWSKY
Carolyn Wendy Sedlowsky (Sheptak) was born September 18, 1972, in Canora, SK, grew up in Hudson Bay, SK later moved to Edmonton, AB and then Thorhild, AB where she settled down to raise her family and passed away September 2, 2024, in Westlock Hospital surrounded by her loved ones after a 20 year battle of a rare eye cancer. Over the years Carolyn had many nicknames but the one that stuck was Mouse.
Since Carolyn’s diagnosis in 2008 she has lived every moment of her life to the fullest and loved spending time with family and friends. Carolyn always put family first and would give anyone in her family or close circle of friends the shirt off of her back. She only let those she trusted and loved into her bubble (as she would call it),
Carolyn LOVED to bake and cook and share these with family and friends. Whether it be her famous cookies, Ukrainian dishes (which she learned from her Mom and Baba) or something else she loved to see people enjoy the love she put into her cooking. Carolyn also loved to travel which her and Lorne did a lot of and they went to many special places. In her spare time she loved to be outdoors: Biking, Kayaking, Hiking, Camping, Snow Shoeing, ski-dooing, gardening and more. She loved to start her days with a cup of coffee on the back deck and end the day (depending on the season) on the front deck or cozied up to the fire with a glass of red wine and then relaxing in her hot tub or bath. Carolyn never sat still and always kept moving right up until the end, more like the energizer bunny than anything else.
Carolyn is survived by her Husband Lorne, sons Austin, Aaron (Lou), Alexander (Brianna) and Jarred, her 3 grandchildren Blakely, Lennon and Emmi her brother Clayton (Tanya) and sister Christine (Brad), Mother in Law Mary-Ann and Father in Law Alex and sister in law Lorie (Rick), and brother in law Murray (Sam) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Father William, Mother Paulette, Step-Father Raymond, Baba and Gido Sheptak, Grandpa and Grandma Goyak.
Carolyn would like to thank her medical team over the years for their care Royal Alexander Eye Clinic – Dr. Weis and his team, Gibbons Family Medical Clinic – Dr. Botha and team, Cross Cancer Institute – Dr. Anaka, NP Karmen and Dr. Ye and their teams and the Thorhild Pharmacy.
As per Carolyn’s wishes no service will be held.

Our deepest sympathies going out to all Carolyn’s family…….she looks like she loved the outdoors and really enjoyed life to the fullest, although that was taken from her way too soon! May her memories bring comfort to all her family! 🙏
Very sad to hear this! My deepest condolences to the family. I got to know Caroline through bootcamp classes – we were generally paired up together because our abilities matched. I truly and fully enjoyed her Facebook posts about her travels, outdoor adventures, gardening and cooking! I will miss these posts. (Her Thorhild farm was my grandparent’s (Jacob and Maria Ewankow) homestead.)

She was such an incredible human being. I remember working with Carolyn in the workplace we worked at for my senior year of high school in 2013 and we always would laugh, sometimes to the point we had tears rolling down our cheeks. Carolyn was a force to be reckoned with and anyone around her was a lucky person to share the room with her. I went to school with her boys and they all carried the same love for life that their mama did. ♥️
I will pray for the repose of the soul of Carolyn!
My deepest sympathies to Carolyn’s family and friends for their loss.
Huge smile that touched your heart every time you saw it. Will always remember seeing her cooking and baking and I think I put on lbs just looking at the pictures. She showed us all how to live life to the fullest.
Lorne and family,
Our condolences to you all at this very difficult time. I will remember Carolyn’s smile and endless energy. May your memories bring you comfort and peace in the days and weeks to come🙏💜
