Yukonna Alixe SPOONER
Yukonna (Connie) Spooner
February 28th, 1929 – February 20, 2026
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Spooner on February 20, 2026, eight days short of her 97th birthday. Connie was raised on a farm southeast of Camrose with her 5 siblings. She would meet the love of her life, Dale, at Naramata Bible School just outside of Penticton, B.C. They would be married on August 25, 1952, and have 3 sons, Gordon, Douglas, and Kenneth.
Known for her devotion to God, zest for life, and work ethic, Connie was always there to help or assist others in their time of need. A passion that was near and dear to her heart was missions. She went on mission trips to Mexico, Europe, Africa and Asia. Locally, she ministered to women in prison.
In January 2005, Connie was appointed as Director/Board Member for the Inner-City Mission Centre of Edmonton, later known as Edmonton Dream Centre and currently known as Adeara Recovery Centre. For over 20 years, she faithfully served on the Board in several capacities as Director, Secretary, and Chaplain. Her passion for the Lord helped make her one of Adeara’s most passionate supporters and ambassadors.
Connie had a wide circle of friends, family and extended family that she remained in touch with right up until the end. She was in her glory organizing family events, dinners and lunches. Any reason to get together was a good enough reason for her!
Connie will be missed by all who lives she touched. She strived to inspire others to know the Lord and to live with the same kindness and devotion that defined her life.
She leaves to mourn her loss one son, Gordon (Donna), daughters-in-law Kelly and Belle, grandchildren Kellie, Jaclyn, Danielle, Amy, Melanie and Rory, and nine great-grandchildren. Connie was predeceased by her husband Dale, sons Douglas and Kenneth, her parents, William and Iva Herder, and siblings Dennis, Willa, Arva, Iva Gail, and Fred.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Southside Pentecostal Assembly (2821-109 St NW, Edmonton) on March 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM with a light lunch to follow.
