Bradley Dennis WOOLFREY

In loving memory of

Bradley Dennis Woolfrey

Jan 2, 1982 – May 15, 2026

Bradley (Brad) was born on January 2, 1982, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, welcomed with immense pride by his parents, Dennis and Karen. From the very beginning, Brad was bright, curious, and full of life. He was the type of kid who wanted to know how everything worked and wasn’t afraid to take apart a perfectly good toy to find out.

In 1985, his sister Erika arrived, and from that moment on, Brad had a built-in shadow, teammate, and occasional test subject. Whether he was firing slapshots at her from three feet away or recruiting her as catcher while he threw fastballs with everything he had, she followed him with admiration and trust. From those early years came a bond that stood strong through every joy, every hardship, and every season of his life.

Because Dennis served with the RCMP, the family moved often, but Brad made friends everywhere he went. Sports were his go-to. He loved hockey, baseball and anything with a stick, a ball, or a chance to compete. He earned home-run records, hardest-shot titles, and represented Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2000 Summer Games for baseball. His talent was undeniable, but it was his grin, his energy, and his ability to make his friends and teammates laugh that made him unforgettable.

Brad also inherited a deep love of fly-fishing from his father and grandfathers. Summers were spent on the river fishing with them and became some of the most meaningful moments of his life. Even after moving to Alberta in 2014, he counted down the days until he could get back to Newfoundland to fish with his dad. In fact, Brad’s first tattoo was in 2025 - a salmon fly in the style his grandfathers and father used to tie. While he talked for years about getting a tattoo, the design he finally chose was made with intention, memory, and pride.

In Alberta, Brad built a life he was proud of. He became a father to two beautiful children, Nathan and Noah, who were the center of his world. He shared with them his love of the outdoors and made many memories while camping, fishing, and relaxing at the beach. Brad cherished their personalities and took great pride in their achievements, always talking about how much his boys meant to him.

For the past 12 years, Brad worked in the oilfield as a Wireline Technician and Supervisor where he was known for his intelligence, work ethic, and ability to solve problems. But more than that, he was known for his humor and kindness. Brad had a rare gift, he could instantly light up any room with a joke, a story, or his unmistakable laugh. He made people smile and feel lighter, even on the hardest days.

In recent years, Brad went through difficult times, yet he always held onto hope - for healing, for the future and for more time with the people he loved. As we grieve this immense loss, we remember that Brad’s life is not defined by the hardships that he endured, but rather by what he brought into the world: his humor, his kindness, his wisdom, his loyalty, his two beautiful children, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Brad is predeceased by his grandparents Alva and Lucy (Woolfrey), and Arch and Florence (Stanford). Left to mourn his immeasurable loss are his sons, Nathan and Noah (Woolfrey); his parents, Dennis and Karen; his sister, Erika (Squires); his brother-in-law, Robbie; his special niece, Marlie; and his many extended family members and friends. Brad is also lovingly remembered by Jamie Lee (Cormier), Kathy (Cormier) and Gary (Kearney), who continued to be an important part of his life.

Brad’s time with us was far shorter than we ever expected, and his absence leaves a void that will always be felt. As we move forward, we will lean on the happy memories he gave us and the love he left behind, letting them help us through the many hard days still to come.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Brad’s life will be held at a later date, with details to be shared once arrangements are finalized.

Dennis, Karen, Erika and extended Wolfrey Family,

We are so saddened to hear of Brads passing. Brad was a part of the Newman family during his time living in Mount Pearl NL. We spent so many good times together playing hockey, baseball and just growing up. He was like a big brother to me, and we spent countless hours horseplaying on Mortimore Drive as well as “Up on the Hill”. Even though life brought us in separate directions we always remained friends. We want you to know that Harry, Julie, Lori and I are thinking of you during this difficult time. God Bless. RIP Brad.

Though it has been some time since I was in his presence, there are simply too many precious memories of growing up while you all lived in Mount Pearl. After reading this obituary, I see that he had not changed…. I remember his humour and fearlessness.

May you find comfort in your many cherished memories of Brad, my deepest and dearest condolences to the family.
